Detailed Review for Tikona Broadband 2 MBps plan

Honest Review for Tikona Broadband by one of the happy customer:-

I’m a twenty seven year old software engineer who lives in Ghatkopar East. My internet requirements vary from needing high speed internet at home for streaming videos with my family, to browsing the web. While I’m not into very advanced gaming or designing, I do need a good reliable internet connection at home, like most of us. Here’s my review for Tikona internet plan:

How I discovered Tikona Broadband connection:-

When I moved here, I began asking neighbors about the various broadband providers in Ghatkopar and several neighbors of mine were subscribing to Tikona Broadband despite MTNL & many local internet service providers being available in the vicinity. Instantly, my interest was aroused. I decided to do some further research myself, and read a Tikona Broadband Review online to satisfy my curiosity. When I had seen enough, I got in touch with them after my next door neighbor shared his positive Tikona review with me.

I had a local internet provider prior to this and quite was unpredictable in terms of a steady connection. When it came to maintenance & service requests, I had quite a poor experience. I also realized that I ended up with pretty heavy usage every month. Most unlimited broadband plan tend to have low speeds or a fair usage policy (FUP) that downgrades the speed to just 512 kbps or 256 kbps which is insufficient for streaming videos online or doing anything productive, really. A slow internet connection can be quite a buzzkill as the videos begin to buffer and the whole experience is jarred by this.

Tikona Broadband 2 MBps Plan:-

After browsing through their plans, I decided to go for the Tikona Broadband 2 MBps Plan that was best suited for my needs – the 2 mbps plan with 10 GB download limit. On average, I consume about 8-10 GB every month while watching YouTube videos & surfing every month so this plan is perfect for me! The installation was relatively hassle free as the infrastructure was already in place & within a day, my new internet connection was up & running.

Installation of Tikona Connection:-

A rooftop router and an internal router was installed. The rooftop router is placed on the terrace and a cable is connected from it to the one at my house. A Wi-fi router is also provided which enables me to make my house a wireless internet space as well as get a direct connection for my laptop and mobile devices. Up to 8 devices can be connected so the wireless internet can be connected to a phone, a tablet or any device that requires an internet connection.

Tikona Broadband Speed Test Review:-

I also took the Tikona speed test to check if the speed was actually what they promised or not. I recommend that you keep taking the speed test from time to time to make sure you are getting the internet speed that is promised.

The final subscription amount for this plan was Rs. 1725, which works out to be less than Rs 600 per month. With my earlier broadband provider, not only was I paying around Rs. 800 per month but the download limit was only 8 GB per month & every time I exceeded that, my speed would get downgraded.

Final comments on Tikona Digital Networks:-

After using Tikona’s broadband services for over a year now and I am quite satisfied with their customer support and overall service. As mentioned earlier, I consume 8-9 GB per month with is sufficient for me. Haven’t faced any major downtime in connection or internet speed, as I use to get earlier with my private internet service provider so overall, a thumbs up from another happy customer!

Valuable Tikona Review for 4 Mbps Broadband Plan & Tikona Speed Test

As an IT project manager who works & resides in Vashi, I need high speed internet pretty much all day long. After long hours at the office, I like to come home and watch YouTube videos to unwind and entertain. Over the weekends, I catch up on my favorite TV shows and binge watch movies. So that’s the extent of my internet usage at home. While at office there’s a pretty fast broadband connection, when I’m occasionally working from home, thanks to slow internet connection I have a hard time getting anything work done.

The slow internet at my house is very frustrating as it can be pretty annoying when you’ve come home from a long day at work & all you want to do is catch the latest Game of Thrones episode but thanks to a slow internet connection, the episode keeps buffering endlessly. Finally I decided to put my foot down and look for a new internet service provider and I began talking to my friends & asking around in my neighborhood about some local service providers. That’s when a friend of mine recommended Tikona Broadband, a Mumbai-based internet service provider that has some good broadband plans on offer at good rates.

On an average, I consume about 30 GB every month. In addition to my entertainment needs, I also exchange several emails on my laptop a lot and I need an internet connection that is fast. As per my needs, I selected the Tikona 4 Mbps Plan after browsing through the various plans they have on offer. The 4 mbps plan costs a little more than 2000 for 3 months & I decided to give it a shot.

When I got in touch with them, I learnt that several residents of my building already subscribe to them & the infrastructure is already set up. The installation was relatively hassle free as the infrastructure was already in place & within a day, my new internet connection was up & running.

A rooftop router and an internal router was installed within a day and my connection was up and running in no time. The rooftop router is placed on the terrace and a cable is connected from it to the one at my house. A Wi-fi router is also provided which lets me make my house a wireless internet space as well as get a direct connection for my laptop. Up to 8 devices can be connected so the wireless internet can be connected to a phone, a tablet or any device that requires an internet connection. Overall, after using for about a month, I had no complaints.

Being familiar with IT since I am from a computer science background, I am aware of the free tools available online for speed tests. Hence, on regular basis I use to monitor the speed and perform speed test. I have recorded a video for one of the speed test that I had performed which I would like to share with all. I was happy to get the speed that I was paying for.

With 4 mbps download speed & with 30 GB download limit, even if I watch videos a lot or stream TV shows like I usually do, there is no lag or buffering. The playback is seamless and doesn’t hang like it used to with my erstwhile connection.

Having used their services for the last 5 months, I would like to share my honest Tikona Broadband Review. I am quite happy with their services and would like to continue with them. I am satisfied with the internet speed I am getting and also with their customer support. Below you can view my overall ratings for my Tikona review.

Get Tikona 4G to Enjoy Netflix

Netflix is a high-quality video-on-demand service that is very popular overseas. Many enthusiasts are excited about the entry of Netflix in India, as a number of critically acclaimed series are available exclusively on their network.

Requirements of Netflix

Movies, TV series, and documentaries are extremely popular with millions of Indians, so Netflix is likely to be a big hit among them. However, Netflix requires excellent broadband speeds. The videos on Netflix should be seen in High-Definition (HD) and Ultra High-Definition (UHD) screens. The functionalities of Netflix require high-speed broadband.

Netflix’s standards say that a user requires a minimum of 5 Mbps speed to enjoy the HD quality videos, while the UHD quality content requires 25 Mbps speed.

Internet Speed in India

The average internet speed in India is 1.7 Mbps. India defines broadband as an internet service with a minimum speed of 512 kbps. In other countries, the minimum broadband speed is much higher. In urban regions of China, it is 20 Mbps. In the United Kingdom (UK), it is more than 10 Mbps while in the United States (US), it is 25 Mbps.

As per reports of Akamai, evaluated in the third quarter of 2015 for state of the internet, India ranks at 98 out of the 99 countries in the Asia-Pacific region. Just 14% of Indians have an internet connection with 4 Mbps speed and only 2.3% have a speed of 10 Mbps. Only 1 in 800 internet users have access to internet speeds of 15 Mbps or more.

This indicates that the condition of internet speed in India is very poor and this is the main impediment to the success of video content providers like Netflix.

Tikona’s 4G Service

For Netflix to be successful, homes in India should have better connectivity. Mumbai-based Tikona Digital Networks has been working hard to make this possible.

Tikona broadband aims to offer high-speed internet with its 4G service. Initially, it will provide the service in 30 cities. The company aims to roll out the 4G service by June 2016. Pilot projects indicated that Tikona’s 4G offers 5 to 10 times higher speeds than the current 3G products of other companies. Their 6 Mbps connection offering is also quite popular, as is evident from the Tikona review section.

Tikona holds the 4G spectrum in 5 key circles of India. It aims to cover all the towns, cities, and villages in the circles with its 4G service. The Tikona 4G plan in Varanasi offers 6 Mbps speed at just INR 750 per month. Tikona broadband reviews from users in the area have been highly encouraging.

The plans and strategy of Tikona 4G revive the hope of Netflix’s success in India. It is clear that Tikona 4G will be the most suitable choice for any user, really wishing to explore and enjoy Netflix services in India.

E-commerce, the Future of Shopping in India

E-commerce has become very popular in India, in recent years. Despite initial scepticism, Indian internet users are increasingly drawn towards the concept of online shopping. They get to browse through thousands of products from the comfort of their homes. In addition to the unlimited options, offers and sales in the e-commerce industry attract even more people.

Future of E-Commerce

E-commerce has a bright future in India. According to a report, the e-commerce industry will be worth USD 38 billion this year, which is 67% higher than USD 23 billion of 2015. The revenues of e-commerce will be 5 – 7 times higher in coming times.

Mobile users will make a major contribution. 70% of the total revenue of an online shopping company will come from M-commerce. India has a huge mobile phone market. It holds the second highest position with its 930 million customers.

Statistics of 2015

In 2015, consumers did the highest shopping in the apparel category. The second highest was in electronics, followed by baby care products, beauty and personal care products, and home furnishing. In 2016, it is expected that online grocery shopping will be one of the most popular verticals.

Surprisingly, e-commerce platforms have a gender base that includes 65% of male customers and 35% female. According to 2015 reports, people aged between 26 and 35 years contribute the highest of 52% in their customer base. 18% customers are aged between 18 and 25 years, 8% are aged between 36 and 45 years, while the remaining 2% are aged between 45 and 60 years.

E-commerce websites lure customers with their big online sales. Last year, India recorded the highest sales in its e-commerce industry. Major online marketers are making huge investments to boost their businesses.

Need of the Internet

E-commerce has made shopping more fun, as it eliminates the inconvenience and hassle of having to travel. However, a seamless network is extremely important to enjoy the online shopping experience.

Companies that use e-commerce platforms require a high-speed and reliable connection. To be up-to-date with the latest innovations in the e-commerce industry, an efficient connection is vital. The growth of the e-commerce sector due to increasing demand also highlights the need for faster technology.

For a buyer, bandwidth is the most important element for a good shopping experience. A smooth connection ensures transactions without any glitch. The session doesn’t expire and the customer can check out faster after completing the payment swiftly. With better speed, users can browse through a wider range of products in less time.

4G to Boost Online Content Demand

A report from Deloitte states that the increased pace of the roll-out of 4G services in India will rapidly raise the demand for online content among consumers in coming years.

Statements of the Report

The report states that 4G will transform the television viewing experience for consumers. It will shift control from broadcasters to consumers. In addition to these, cheap smart phones and cheap internet plans will boost internet usage in the country within a few years.

According to the report, 4G connections will encourage high-quality content services. The digital platform will allow rural India to be a part of the progress. At present, 35% of internet users in India belong to rural areas. This participation is expected to increase with the rise in audio and video-on-demand services.

4G will offer better bandwidth to the consumers and boost the digital platform in the country.

Internet in India

Today, India is the third highest country in terms of number of internet subscribers. In June 2015, the total number of internet users in the country was 319.42 million.

As per Internet and Mobile Association in India (IMAI), India will have more than 500 million internet users by 2018, and out of these, 210 million will be from rural regions.

In coming years, over-the-top (OTT) will be the new way of watching TV. A large population will depend on on-demand services for watching movies and other TV content. OTT makes it possible for users to stream programs through the internet, without the need to subscribe to a satellite or cable service. It will be a huge success among subscribers and service providers.

A report from Media Partner Asia (MPA) states that in 2014, 12 million people in India were subscribed to OTT video. This will rise to 105 million by 2020. Regional content will also be in demand. This is because 78% of Indians prefer watching programs in their respective regional languages.

Choose Tikona as Your Internet Service Provider

Over the past two decades my family has used several internet service providers, often to great disappointment. During that time, we have also shifted residence, adding to the number of ISPs that we have experimented with. This probably puts me in a good position to offer some advice. We have used Tikona’s service in both locations, in Mumbai, as well as in Thane. We can say that we are now settled with a regular service provider, as the Tikona connection has been going strong for around 2 years.

Installation:

Tikona gave us a wireless router and installed it at the rooftop. The router received signals from the company’s tower. An Ethernet cable connected the router to our home PC and TIkona provided both the router and cable. The installation got off to a good start, as they did not charge us for extra wiring, despite the fact that our layout required a greater length of cable.

The router was installed by the technician on the rooftop. He seemed quite knowledgeable and helpful, also ensuring that the router was position in the best sheltered location for protection from harsh winds and heavy rains.

The Ethernet cable connected the router to a small power box and then to the Power over Ethernet (POE) socket. A separate Local Area Network (LAN) socket is connected to our PC with a LAN cable.

Service

While using the internet, we found the speed excellent. Surfing over the web and streaming videos became seamless. With Tikona, even my parents started watching videos online, which they did not have the patience to do before because of long buffer time.

So far, I have also been completely satisfied, if not impressed with the quality of customer care. The engineers of the company are a bank of knowledge. They assist in quickly resolving any issue.

We have noticed that the service and network from the company have improved over time. Now, two years later, it is much better than it was during the initial times. The enhanced services offer smooth connectivity.

Understand the Fair Usage Policy in India

Fair Usage Policy (FUP) is a policy adopted by many Internet Service Providers (ISPs). The policy helps the ISPs to reduce a user’s upload or download speed after a specified data limit is reached. Until very recently, unscrupulous service providers often marketed their plans as unlimited, while maintaining an FUP. It is important for companies to disclose such terms to subscribers.

TRAI on FUP

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) had asked ISPs to be transparent, as pe a directive issued in 2012. TRAI asked operators to inform customers about varied plans and FUP associated with them.

The directive stated that the companies should not reduce the speed beyond a certain minimum limit. It further said that the company should notify the user when 80% and 100% of the data is used.

TRAI asked companies to avoid misleading the customers with false advertisements. ISPs need to clearly disclose the details of the plans in their advertisements. They also need to provide a URL or customer care number, where subscribers may contact them with any queries.

TRAI has stated that a plan having a fair usage limit should not have the word ‘unlimited’ associated with it. However, a number of operators continue to mislead users with the word, ‘unlimited’. Users, who did not notice the fine print, later find that after reaching a certain data cap, they are only given low speeds or are charged extra to access the earlier speed.

Many telecom operators misguide the customers on varied internet plans including 3G data plans, dongle data plans, as well as broadband plans. They do not specify the limitations and extra charges of the plans. TRAI has been unsuccessful in regulating such telecom operators.

The Internet in India

The condition of internet access across the country, although improving, is still very poor. In June last year, a report from Akamai ranked India low at 115th in the world, in terms of internet speeds.

The National Optic Fiber Network (NOFN) got approval in 2011, but was only initiated in 2015. It aims to offer broadband services to 2.5 lakh Gram Panchayats and 631 districts. The Digital India program has also been launched. It plans to offer broadband services to villages, 4 lakh public internet access points, and Wi-Fi in 2.5 lakh schools and universities.

Tikona Digital Networks

Tikona Digital Networks does not lure customers with the promise of unlimited plans, but it delivers on promised connectivity. Tikona broadband is renowned for its high-speed. The Mumbai-based company strives to be transparent and ensures that customers are not misled. It complies strictly with TRAI’s regulations. Its business strategy focuses on customer value. Initiated in 2008, Tikona serves 2.75 lakh happy customers in the country. Many of them have shared their experiences in the Tikona review section.

Get a Delightful Experience with Tikona 4G

Internet service in India has come a long way since its early days. From the initial 52 kbps dial-up modem to 2G, 3G, and 4G, the internet has become faster and better.

Internet Experience

I remember the initial excitement of using the internet, which didn’t seem slow at that time. This was soon followed with the excitement of being able to access internet services on mobile phones. Soon after, broadband services arrived in the country and 3G was also introduced, promising even faster speeds. 3G services brought better speeds, but most of us have always experienced intermittent network problems. I have often been plagued by this problem, being forced to use 2G speeds instead, in many areas.

The emergence of 4G is something that I find really exciting, as this finally promises to give us world-class service. Telecom companies have already begun offering high-speed internet services with 4G. Downloading content, streaming movies, and surfing the internet has become smoother.

I opted for the 4G service on my phone from a popular telecom operator. After few weeks, I found glitches in the network. As in the case of 3G, the network often got pushed to slower speeds. The experience for me has not been very positive. Increasingly frustrated with network issues, I am now on the lookout for a new service provider.

Tikona’s 4G

I have high expectations from Tikona 4G. The company will be rolling out its 4G services this year, and I am eagerly awaiting the launch. Although I have experienced several disappointments in the past with other ISPs, my home broadband experience with Tikona has always been great. As a long-time customer, I can say that their service to date has been exemplary and I am now pinning all my hopes on their 4G services.

The company will offer blanket coverage in 30 cities within its five circles. It will thus ensure that there are no network fluctuations. Tikona reviews from subscribers so far have already been very positive. The company is striving to provide a delightful experience to customers with its high-speed 4G service and most of those glowing reviews have been from the lucky users who have already experience the service through Tikona’s pilot project in Varanasi. This test project saw the provider giving users speeds of up to 6 Mbps. Home and office users in the city have already been sharing there experiences in Tikona 4G reviews.

The cost factor makes it more appealing, as you can avail of Tikona’s 4G services starting from INR 750. Playing online games, watching High-Definition (HD) movies, downloading videos, streaming music, and other activities on the web will be much simpler.

The company serves 2.75 lakh happy customers across 25 cities of the country. Many customers like me have shared similar experiences in Tikona broadband reviews. Known for its high-speed service, cheap rates, and efficient customer service, I am hopeful that their 4G service will arrive in my area soon.

Choose the Best ISP

Choosing the best Internet Service Provider (ISP) is very important. To this end, you should check all the details of the different plans offered by the many service providers.

As an engineering student, I use the internet a lot and need a reliable highspeed connection. For this reason, I have studied different plans from a number of companies to identify the best ones.

Some of the plans offered by a few major companies are as follows:

  • ISP #1:

This ISP offers plans that are categorized as fast, faster and fastest. The three plans offer speeds of 1 Mbps, 2 Mbps and 4 Mbps respectively. The speeds, however, vary depending upon the area in which you live. Once you cross the data usage limit in the plan, the company will drop your speed to 512 kbps. It charges a non-refundable amount of INR 600 for router and modem installation.

  • ISP #2:

This ISP offers the lowest plan at INR 80. It gives a 2 Mbps speed at this rate. However, the speed is available only till downloads of 200 MB. In another plan, the company offers a speed of 5 Mbps at INR 1200. This plan looks attractive, but, it has its drawbacks. After you have used 5 GB, the speed will be reduced to just 256 kbps. Other plans also have their speeds reduced to 512 kbps once the usage limit is exceeded. Additionally, the company charges INR 1100 as registration and installation fees.

  • ISP #3:

This ISP enjoys wide coverage, offering its services even in the most remote areas. However, the service is currently only offered for home use. The plans of this company are very expensive, with a security deposit as high as INR 4000 and installation charges of around INR1500. The cost of plans is also high, with the starting range being INR 2000 for a speed of just 1 Mbps. The maximum speed offered by the company is 4 Mbps.

  • Tikona Digital Networks:

Tikona internet plans offer high-speed connections at affordable rates. You will be charged INR 650 for 15 GB data at a speed of 4 Mbps. By paying just INR 150 extra, you will be able to increase your data limit by two times to 30 GB. One of its plans offers speeds as high as 10 Mbps at just INR 799, with a data limit of 20 GB. You can conduct a Tikona speed test to identify the actual speed.

As per my analysis, Tikona is the ideal ISP, with the best plans for everyone. It offers its services in 25 cities across the country. Subscribers of Tikona are delighted with the service, a fact that is apparent if you look through the Tikona review section.

Configure your Tikona Router in Easy Steps

Getting a personal router installed becomes easy when you sign up with Tikona. I bought a Tikona router and installed it myself. The process is hassle-free, but in-case you struggle with new technology, like my mum, this guide could help with the installation.
